Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has turned his attention to
Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Javier Pastore after balking at
Paul Pogba's £60m price tag.
The Express reports that Mourinho is still keen on Juventus'
Pogba, but is not ready to meet the hefty price tag the Italian
champions are demanding.
Moreover, the Frenchman's agent Mino Raiola has come out and
quashed all the rumours regarding a move away from Turin,
even though Pogba was spotted in west London earlier in the
week.
"Paul to Chelsea? It's just fantasy football. Everything is perfect
at Juventus and no meetings are planned," Raiola said, as
quoted in the Express.
The Blues boss has now turned his attention to PSG's Argentine
midfielder Pastore as an alternative. The midfielder is said to
have impressed Mourinho when the French champions took on
Chelsea in the Champions League last season.
It is claimed that the former Palermo midfielder is available for
around the £25m mark, which is less than half the amount
Chelsea will have to fork out for Pogba.
Pastore has struggled to find regular game time with the French
champions and only started a handful of games, mostly coming
off the bench. This also resulted in Pastore missing the plane to
Brazil for the World Cup, where Argentina are preparing to take
on Germany in the final on Sunday.
The 25-year-old midfielder has been linked with a move away
from the club for a while now and a return to Italy was also
touted as a possibility. However, his agent Marcelo Simonian
has come out and poured water over the speculation regarding a
move back to Italy, and also confirmed that Pastore will remain
in Paris for another season.
"There is no possibility that Pastore will return to Italy next
season," Simonian added.
"Pastore will remain 100 per cent at Paris St Germain."
