Nigeria's quest for a place at Morocco 2015 Africa Cup of
Nations will continue this weekend as the gladiators have started arriving for
the encounter against Sudan.
Warri Wolves centre back Azubuike Egwuekwe was the first to
arrive the Bolton White Hotel camp of the Super Eagles as preparations hit top
gear to ensure Nigeria does well against the Sudanese in Omdurman.
Sone Aluko, Reading's Hope Akpan, Michael Babatunde, Nosa
Igiebor and newly called up Aaron Samuel are also some of the early birds in
camp.
The home based quartet of goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim,
Gbolahan Salami, Emem Udouk of Dolphins, who replaced the crocked Victor Moses
and towering Enugu Rangers attacker Osagouna Ighodaro are also in camp.
The first training session will take place at the training
pitch of the National Stadium, Abuja on Tuesday morning as more players are
expected in camp overnight.
Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi will hope for more points on
board in this round of Afcon qualifying games after chalking up a misery one
point from a possible six.
The Super Eagles were beaten 3-2 in Calabar last month by
the Red Devils of Congo and played out a drab scoreless draw with the Bafana
Bafana of South Africa in Cape Town a few days later.
Nigeria are in third position in Group A of the Caf/Orange
2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers behind South Africa who have four points.
Congo lead the group with six points from two matches as
Sudan, whom Nigeria face on October 11 in Omdurman take the rear going into
match day three of the qualifiers.
