Manchester City manager, Manuel Pellegrini, does not want
Nigerian youngster, Kelechi Iheanacho, to rest on his laurels as the Citizens
continue their preparations for the 2014/ 15 season, charging the U-17 World
Cup winner to seize the moment.
Iheanacho netted his second goal in as many matches for City
in the 5-1 thumping of Italian giants, AC Milan, at Heinz Field, Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania on Sunday.
The 17- year-old poked home from the top of the box in the
26th minute as the Citizens routed the Rossoneri in emphatic fashion.
Pellegrini was again impressed with his Nigerian charge, but
revealed that the tour to the United States is the chance for younger players
like Iheanacho to catch his eye.
“We have a lot of young players here with us. We have
Kelechi Iheanacho, Greg Leigh, Jason Denayer and several others. “It’s an
important chance for them to show what they can do, and maybe this moment is
their moment,” Pellegrini told the club’s official website, www. mcfc.com.
With two goals in two games and all round performances that
had the purists purring, Iheanacho has done little to harm his chances of
breaking into the main squad.
